Rockstars!

Despite the 2° temperatures, Banff was stunningly beautiful in the full glory of late summer. Two Jake Lake glistened blue beneath the cloudless sky. Undaunted, I plunged into the freezing water at the siren and ploughed around the buoys. Up the hill, off with the wetsuit (somewhat inelegantly), on with socks and shoes, run to the end of the transition and off on the bike.

Magic downhill leg. Hitting speeds of almost 60km, we cruised into Banff and down Banff Avenue, close to traffic and lined with cheering crowds. Into the 2nd transition, off with the bike shoes, on with the running shoes and into the run leg.

Running along the bluest of rivers with towering mountains reflected perfectly, I almost forgot to puff. Crossing the bridge, Sean waving (a 3 minute head start and 2 km in front of me) spurred me on. Along the river, back across the bridge and up Banff Avenue - the crowds roaring. U-turn and thundering back down to the finish. Cheering fans, photographers, name called out on the load speakers lining the street, through the finish punching the air, ROCKSTAR!

And just to cap it off nicely, podium finishes to us both in our age categories - ROCKSTARS!!
