Tulips

One of the advantages of living around the 50th parallel is the ability to grow magnificent tulips. Last year, it was with great anticipation that I planted tulip bulbs in the front garden. Only to be devastated by the squirrels having a lovely dining experience.

So, last Fall, I planted 50 bulbs, in very patriotic red and white, in the back garden - squirrels behave! This Spring we have been rewarded by a stunning red and white display of flowers - and no squirrel in sight. Woo hoo! Sadly, however, that despite it being after the May long weekend, we had 10cm of snow and frosty conditions so our beautiful tulips are somewhat wilted and bent...
