It is ANZAC Day and here I am above the 56th parallel on an oilsands site called Long Lake owned by Nexen.
It is not a public holiday, there was no dawn service, not even a game of two-up. Yet here we are only a few kilometres from the township of Anzac - so named for the ANZAC surveyors who surveyed the railway through here way back in 1915!!
