Canadian

Whilst compiling the Australia Day quiz for work, I discovered that term “blind Freddie” is completely foreign to the Canadian ear. So I have compiled a few of my favourite Canadian words that are not in common usage in Australian!

Teeter-totter - sea-saw
Kitty-corner - diagonally across
Parkade - undercover carpark
Pop - soft drink
Visit - as in “do come in and visit”/”we had a lovely visit with Grandma”
Toque - beanie
Double double - coffee from Tim Horton’s with two creams and two sugars
Loonie - the Canadian one dollar coin
Oh, a double double is not recommended - nor is coffee of any form from Tim Horton's!
